Planning for Your Career in Healthcare
My initial plan of moving myself towards my goal of becoming a healthcare
administrator would involve several steps. The first step would be to enroll in and complete a
bachelor’s degree, as this is the minimum educational requirement to become a healthcare
administrator. The second step in my plan would be to possibly consider enrolling in and
completing a master’s degree program, as this would set me above other candidates for a job, as
well as give me more insight and education on the things I will need to know as a healthcare
administrator. The next step would be to earn certain key industry certifications, as these would
show that I have a very detailed and good aptitude in each area of being a healthcare
administrator. One of the last steps would be to obtain additional experience in administrative
roles, with joining industry organizations and attending health conferences. All these steps in this
plan should help put me in a very good position to achieve my goal of becoming a healthcare
I would love to be a healthcare administrator for a mental health institution. It is
something close to my heart as I have struggled with mental health issues. My institution would
provide treatment for many mental health conditions, such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia,
depression, personality disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and others. I would
love to have an institution that offers a variety of treatment settings, from city-apartment based
locations to a farm-based group home setting, because some settings work better for some people
In my facilities I would offer a wide range of treatments. I would offer therapy sessions,
both group and private. I would also offer services to help patients balance out their medications
and find a healthy balance so that they were not taking too much medication but still managing
their health issues. My facility would also have a library where clients could go to read or get
reading material. It would also have educational tutors for those who were either still in school or
looking to further their education.
My mission statement for my mental health institution would be as followed, broken
down into segments.
Our Purpose: Enabling patients, in a safe comfortable environment, to grow and develop
skills to help them learn how to heal.
Our Mission: To provide the highest caliber health care to our patients and their families,
through a range of services for the very best outcome.
Our Vision: To become a valuable mental healthcare provider, a partner in psychiatric
health services. To not only meet but to exceed standards that we set for our ourselves
